Holiday Greetings To You,

It is always exciting to move into the Christmas Season with the beautiful lights, sounds, and holiday smells. I hope that as you experience the season you always remember the reason for the season and you take time to reflect on the little baby Jesus who came to rescue the world.

It seems with the delay of harvest and the nice weather we have been having the hustle and bustle of the Y has been delayed a few weeks also. But as the last week of November comes to a close, things are picking up here too. From the relaunch of fitness programs, basketballs flying, swim team sharks in the water, and the sound of clanking weights and spinning treadmills it is evident that winter is really here. Although as of this writing we have not had any substantial snow, I'm sure it is on the way. Please remember to start bringing a clean pair of shoes to work out in and use in the facility. This one thing makes a major impact on the maintenance of the facility and especially the cardio equipment in the fitness room. You can help extend the life of our equipment and furnishings by carrying in a clean pair of shoes.

Speaking of clean and safe, I would like to address the disinfectant that all members are to use in the fitness room to clean off their equipment when finished. As many of you have noticed, we have had a few different products up there for your use. The best thing we have had is the dark blue cans of foaming spray, and we realize this as many of you do. However, these cans have continually become more expensive and they are an aerosol which is not good for the environment. We have decided to go to an environmentally friendly and safe neutral disinfectant cleaner. This product is pennies per quart instead of several dollars per can which the aerosol was. This new product is just as
affective at killing all the germs as the foam was. Since it is a liquid, always  spray it on the rag first, then wipe down the equipment. This will prevent any overspray liquid getting into the electronics of our equipment. Thank you for your patience as we work to save you, the YMCA member, several thousand dollars and be earth friendly in the process. So please, keep cleaning your equipment and combating the illnesses around us with the disinfectant cleaner.

The YMCA would like to thank the donors who have made it possible for us to purchase the swim team timer and display that you see in the pool area. These generous donors have made this state of the art timing system possible: Cass County Community Foundation, J & J Custom Graphic Design, Atlantic Hy-Vee, First Whitney Bank and Trust, Wal-Mart, Atlantic Bottling Company, and a gift in Memory of Lyle Esbeck. Our members, Flying Sharks Swim Team, parents, and coaches appreciate your generosity. Stop by and see it in action at our next home swim meet on December 12th.

As I come to a close, I would like to again express my sincere appreciation for you and your family, for your being a member of this family we call the YMCA, and for your continued generous support. You are all a blessing and I want to wish you a very blessed Christmas Season.
